Boat Tip: Mate’s Combo Rod & Cup Holders

You can never have enough drink holders. The problem is finding a place to put them.

To the rescue come Mate’s Combo Rod & Cup Holders. These polished 316 stainless-steel gunwale rod holders (about $100) feature a mouth big enough to hold a beverage can or bottle in a koozie. Remove your drink, and you’ll see a rod tube underneath. Installation requires that you cut a larger hole than for a conventional gunwale rod holder, but these holders are easier to install, as you cut the hole straight down, not at an angle, with a hole saw. Choose between 0-, 15- and 30-degree angled tubes, open at the bottom or with drain fittings.
