AFTCO Diffuse Air-O-Mesh Shorts
The first pair of technical fishing shorts made entirely of AFTCO’s breathable Air-O Mesh polyester stretch fabric, Diffuse provides comfort in warm, humid climates that generally create sticky situations. The shorts feature a reinforced plier/utility pocket, AFLEX four-way stretch, DWR treatment to prevent stains and multiple pocket storage options. The inseam measures 9 inches, and Diffuse comes in sizes 28 to 42. Available next spring in charcoal, navy, and ecru, the shorts will cost $59.
Gill Overton Shirt
Beyond its classic looks, the Overton was designed to fit loosely and comfortably. It features Xpel technology, employing a safe, plant-based coating that repels water and stains. Press-stud fasteners down the chest allow for easy don and doff. The shirt sports two roomy chest pockets and a self-fabric strip to hang sunglasses or fishing tools. Available in blue check or white and in sizes from XS to 4XL, Overton costs $70.
Fergs, named for Costa Sunglasses founder Ray Ferguson, offer a refined focus on performance details, including top and side shields, integrated textured Hydrolite rubber, and vented nose pads. Ferg’s large OmniFit frame and 360-degree nose-pad adjustability allows for a more comfortable and secure fit on a variety of face shapes and sizes. Available in four color options — matte black, matte tortoise, matte reef and shiny gray — with a variety of Costa color-enhancing 580 lenses, Fergs cost $199 to $279.
Simms Women’s Challenger Jacket and Bib
Simms all-new Women’s Challenger Jacket and Bib are made with a waterproof, breathable two-layer Toray fabric and feature a women’s specific fit. The jacket comes with an adjustable hood, a center-front zipper with a waterproof storm flap, a chest pocket with a built-in sunglass chamois, and handwarmer pockets. The bib comes with a pass-through handwarmer pocket, plier port, and knee-high zips for easy on/off. The jacket comes in sizes XS through 3XL, in garnet and Hex Flo Camo Admiral, and costs $199.95. The bib comes in sizes S through 2XL, in Admiral Blue, and costs $199.95.
XtraTuf Legacy Deck Boot
Inspired by the evolving needs of the Alaskan fishing community, XtraTuf has introduced a Chelsea-style boot for its spring 2021 season. The Legacy Deck Boot’s lower profile creates a new class of boot. Made from the company’s triple-dipped neoprene, it’s 100 percent waterproof yet flexible and durable. The elastic gore on either side allows easy on and off. Available for men in sizes 7 to 15 and in brown or brown with a steel toe, and in women’s sizes 6 to 11 in black and brown, the boots cost $120 to $130.
AFTCO Reaper Windproof 3-Layer Softshell Jacket
The Reaper jacket is the next generation of technical cold-weather gear in the Reaper family. The soft-shell jacket incorporates a built-in face mask and neck warmer, but is now lined with AFTCO’s Hexatron fleece material. The outer rip-stop shell — 94 percent polyester, 6 percent Spandex — fuses to the Hexatron lining. Available in sizes S through 3X, the jacket is constructed with laser-cut underarm ventilation and a zippered side vent and costs $99.

Made from a polyester that wicks moisture while keeping you cool, the hoodie features UPF 50+ sun protection to block harmful rays. The shirt also dries quickly and offers AEGIS odor resistance. Radial sleeves allow for expansive arm movements. The hoodie comes in carbon grey and blue mist and in sizes S through 2XL. It costs $50.
Mossy Oak/Paramount EAG Elite Performance
Paramount Outdoors partnered with Mossy Oak to create the EAG Elite Performance long-sleeve fishing shirt. The 90 percent polyester, 10 percent Spandex fabric offers four-way stretch and breathability. The shirt features a solid-color body with mesh side panels and sleeves in Mossy Oak Elements camo. With UPF 50 sun protection, moisture-wicking and anti-stain properties, the shirt offers all-day protection on the water. Available in five colors, it costs $24.99.
UA Micro G Kilchis Camo
Under Armour’s Micro G Kilchis offer a highly breathable, quick-dry textile upper and welded synthetic overlays for abrasion protection. The shoes feature a full-length Micro G foam midsole for long lasting, responsive cushioning, rapid water drainage from ports built into lateral and medial sides of the midsole, and a non-marking rubber outsole that maximizes surface-area contact to grip on wet surfaces. Collapsible-heel construction allows easy slip-on capability The stretch collar construction permits barefoot wear. Available in UA Hydro Camo, black, khaki and victory green, and in sizes 8 to 14, the shoes cost $80.
Smith ChromaPop Glass Bronze Mirror Lens
Smith has introduced a brown-based polarized glass lens with a bronze mirror finish and ChromaPop technology. ChromaPop Glass Bronze Mirror lenses provide full UV protection and feature anti-reflective and hydroleophobic coatings. With a visual-light transmission level of 10 percent, the new lenses are best suited for areas of high sun exposure. Available in Guide’s Choice and Redding frames, they cost $259.
