The latest reel to pass through the gauntlet at Quantum’s brutal real-world testing grounds off Stuart, Florida, is the new Exceed spinning reel. Available in sizes 2500 through 8000, the Exceed is staged to raise the bar on what serious anglers expect from saltwater reels.

We’ve fished with the Quantum crew. To a man, they are zealous about building the best-possible rods and reels. They are science nerds who will scramble your brain with specs on optimized oscillation moments before outfishing you as they abuse their prototypes on sailfish, tarpon and snook. Through lab testing and extensive on-the-water trials, Quantum reels go through the grinder to hone in on the best possible design.

The Exceed features the rollout of Quantum’s Cerakote coating, which covers the body and sideplate for superior corrosion resistance. Their proven SEALOQ 8 design is independently tested to seal the drag system and gearbox to the highest IPX8 standards. Corrosion resistance is maximized inside and out, and sand, salt and water are sealed out of the reel’s moving parts to keep it operating smoothly over the long run. A new advancement, Quantum’s IPX8 sealed roller assembly protects one of a reel’s most vulnerable components.

Best-in-class max drag, along with a smooth, consistent drag curve under pressure, are what you feel during battle, thanks to the CFX200 Carbon Fiber Extreme Drag System. GEARTEQ machined gearing adds long-term durability and a refined feel with every turn of the newly designed, lightweight and grippy, Cerakote-coated carbon handle knob.

Lure slingers will appreciate CASTEQ slow oscillation on the 2500 through 5000 sizes. The design improves line lay during retrieve. Braided line stacks evenly on the spool, ready to shoot through the guides for longer casts with fewer wind knots. Every size in the lineup, including the 6000 and 8000, features a carbon rotor to reduce weight while maintaining strength.

From inshore flats to heavy surf and offshore, the Quantum Exceed is engineered for smooth performance that stays smooth thanks to the protection of fully sealed components. A passion for fishing is what pushes Quantum designers to build and continually improve on the saltwater reels that they actually fish.
