Shimano has introduced the Hagane design concept for its new Stradic FK reels. Hagane gears provide power from a cold-forged drive gear, while the body promotes rigidity and impact resistance. Available in five models from 1000 to 5000, the spinners feature 6-to-1 and 6.2-to-1 gear ratios, six shielded ARB bearings, and Shimano’s one-way-bearing Power Roller. The 1000 carries 140 yards of 4-pound mono (85 yards of 15-pound braid); the 5000 handles 195 yards of 12-pound mono (200 yards of 30-pound braid). Prices range from $199.99 to $229.99.
