Simrad has announced its Halo24 pulse-compression dome radar, boasting 60 rpm high-speed rotation at distances up to 2 nautical miles — an industry first. Halo24 offers MARPA functionality and VelocityTrack Doppler technology for instant visual, color-coded feedback on the motion of radar targets in relation to the boat. The lightweight 24-inch dome can detect targets up to 48 nautical miles away, and can process multiple ranges simultaneously for fast dual-range performance. Halo24 costs $2,699 (an Ethernet-connected Simrad MFD or radar-control unit is required for operation; a heading sensor and GPS receiver are required for MARPA target tracking).
