Fishing the Louisiana Marsh — An Osprey’s-Eve View

Brief but stunning drone video of a bay boat fishing in the maze of marshes near Venice, Louisiana

An amazing maze in a watery world – that could sum up fishing in the vast (and ever-growing) salt marshes of southeastern Louisiana. But a picture’s worth 1,000 words and a video many times more, so take a look at this footage shot from a drone showing three anglers in the shallow-draft bay boat of Chris Schieble. Rather than the (ideal) usual low, clear water here in the fall, an unseasonably high Mississippi River had left the marsh filled with Old Man River’s muddy outflow, making sight-fishing these shallows problematic. Still, as evident in this video, these anglers connected with redfish.
