Wahoo

Check out the latest fishing tips and techniques for catching wahoo.

Wahoo seems an apt name for these fish because their sizzling high-speed runs usually elicit a similar-sounding “woohoo!” Imagine, then, catching the all-tackle world record wahoo, which weighed 184 pounds. Most anglers use wire leaders and troll lures or baits for wahoo, sometimes at speeds up to nearly 20 mph. These powerful predators swim most of the world’s oceans. They’re considered excellent table fare, but be careful of their razor-sharp teeth when boating these long-bodied speedsters.
