Presidential Challenge Wraps Up in Guatemala | 16th Annual Tournament Scheduled for Nov. 15-18

SEASON WRAP-UP: PCCA GUATEMALA

Following shortly after the Chivas Regal Aruba Carribean Cup will be the season finale of the Presidential Challenge Conservation Series: the highly anticipated Presidential Challenge of Guatemala.

What makes this tournament so special? One, the fishing. Guatemala holds a special place among light-tackle billfishing enthusiasts, with its large numbers of sailfish and a greatly improving marlin fishery as well. And while the big numbers don’t always show up, Presidential Challenge anglers have witnessed some phenominal fishing here in years past. It’s a great location to wrap up the season and crown the Costa Grand Champion Team and Eagle Claw Grand Champion Angler of the Presidential Challenge series.

Another reason why it’s a great destination is the host lodge and the associated boats. Once again this year, Casa Vieja Lodge returns as the Host Lodge, with its clean, comfortable rooms, gourmet dining, inviting pool and bar and much more. Sailfish Oasis will host the observers and the overflow from Casa Vieja–the Oasis is also an outstanding destination for the tournament, offering similar lodging features. No matter where you choose to stay, there’s sure to be a great room with cold air conditioning awaiting at the end of the day.

Then there are the boats. While many of the Casa Vieja boats are already booked, there are a handful of vessels that remain open. They’re crewed by some of the finest captains and mates fishing today, period. This is your chance to fish with some of the up-and-coming legends of the sport. For those on private vessels, you’re always welcome to fish in any Presidential Challenge event, including PCCA Guatemala. Contact our staff as early as possible and we’ll assist you in making arrangements for dockage at the Host Marina, Marina Pez Vela, as well as helping make sure you have all the necessary documentation that you’ll need to make your entry and exit as quick and easy as possible.

The Presidential Challenge Charitable Foundation is a 501(C)3 charity dedicated to supporting marine conservation around the world through organizations like The Billfish Foundation, IGFA, the Adopt-A-Billfish satellite tagging program and many others. Over $60,000 has been raised for The Billfish Foundation alone in the past three years, thanks to the support of anglers like yourself.

ARUBA UPDATE: FULL SPEED AHEAD

Not to be overshadowed, the planning continues “full speed ahead” for the Chivas Regal Aruba Caribbean Cup. Now in its third year, this tournament has become one of the most popular of its kind in the Southern Caribbean and is expected to host approximately 20 boats again this season. Aruba remains a mostly undiscovered fishery but in the past two seasons, Caribbean Cup anglers have been surprised with not only good weather but a phenominal bite for both blue and white marlin as well as sailfish. Several excellent charter boats remain available and private boats are always welcome so contact the Presidential Challenge tournament staff as soon as possible for assistance.
