Fly Fishing Film Tour needs your help. You’ve seen him on the big screen, met him at our shows or maybe been lucky enough to fish with him in Isla Holbox. Their close friend Sandflea (Alejandro Vega Cruz) needs heart surgery to save his life. Sandflea is 44 years old and this will be his 3rd open-heart surgery. If he is to live out the long life he deserves, his valve needs to be replaced with the skill and technology available at an American hospital. The blogs will be part of the fan interactive www.guyoutpost.com website that allows visitors to research and create their own travel adventure in Florida, the Bahamas and beyond. Cocking built a legion of fans in South Florida over the past 21 years as the Outdoors Writer for the Miami Herald. The highly respected journalist was also a news reporter and anchor for several South Florida radio stations, including WINZ and WIOD, both in Miami. She was also the co-host of “The Weekly Fisherman”, aired weekly on WQAM-560.

‘Designated Skipper’ Campaign Launches Nationwide: The Sea Tow Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting boater safety, is proud to announce the launch of its Designated Skipper campaign across the U.S. The goal of this important new program, which is supported by a grant from the Sport Fish Restoration & Boating Trust Fund as administered by the U.S. Coast Guard, is to help eliminate boating under the influence (BUI) and alcohol-related accidents on the water while keeping boating fun for everyone. IGFA partners on Carribbean Billfish Project: Billfish species including blue and white marlin, sailfish and spearfish, make significant contributions to the Caribbean economies, livelihoods and food security through two very distinct fisheries- commercial and recreational. Billfish are also important incidental by-catch species from large scale tuna long-line fisheries operating both within and beyond national jurisdictions. Declining trends due to overfishing have been recognized in most billfish species across the Atlantic. This represents a threat to the fisheries sector and to the overall sustainability of respective contributions to regional economies. Read more about it here.
A report released on Monday by the California Coastal Conservation Association and the American Sportfishing Association (ASA) demonstrates that banning traditional fishing tackle will have a negative impact on fishing participation, which generates millions of dollars for fisheries conservation in the state.
