Sea Chaser proclaims itself the builder of the “most durable, versatile and affordable boats on the market,” a total of 14 models of fishing, pleasure and runabout boats.
Durability comes thanks to an integrated fiberglass stringer system that creates a non-flexing, wood-free hull. The hull is filled with foam flotation beyond US Coast Guard requirements.
Sea Chaser boats are built to American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) and Coast Guard standards. Hull bottom construction is warrantied against delamination or separation for 10 years, barring misuse.
Sea Chaser has been a Carolina Skiff brand for more than 30 years; its sibling brands include Carolina Skiff, Aggressor Boats and Fun Chaser pontoon and deck boats.
Sea Chaser 22 HFC
This boat is ideal for a variety of settings, from tubing and cruising calm, accessible lakes to hitting the salt water in pursuit of big fish, bold adventures and challenging rough seas and ocean waves.
The center console Sea Chaser 22 HFC (Hybrid Fish and Cruise) thrives as a trailerable hybrid center console that is equal parts fishing rig, family cruiser, and all-around fun machine.
The hull is comprised of 100-percent composite construction and a fiberglass grid system, with a 25-inch, high-density core transom that adds strength and stability. The hull slices cleanly through inland lake chop, but has no problem navigating inshore channels or venturing out for some light offshore fishing. The Sea Chaser 22 HFC’s deck layout welcomes the shift from fishing trips to family lounging and back.
For fishing, there’s a 25-gallon LED-lit stern livewell, raw-water washdown, six flush-mounted rod holders, and under-gunwale storage for six rods. The livewell features T-H Marine’s Max-Air aeration system and high-speed pickups. Forward is a 32-gallon insulated fish box, plus a 52-gallon insulated storage compartment.
Cruising? Enjoy the U-shaped bow seating with removable cushions and backrests, 70-quart cooler, leaning post with backrest and rod and cup holders, and molded-in rear bench seat with storage and a removable backrest. Don’t forget to turn on the blue underwater LEDs at night.
There’s a deluxe helm with tilt steering, digital gauges and a Bluetooth stereo system, as well as an optional changing station/head space beneath the flip-up console.
Editor’s Tip
In an era that’s seeing center-console boats grow ever larger, it is refreshing to see a smaller, more affordable and easy-to-handle boat like the 22 HFC on the market. With a 10-year limited structural hull warranty, it is built to last. -Jim Hendricks
