The 16 Classic launched the Cape Horn brand 39 years ago, after Chris Fabbro and his father, Bob Fabbro, recognized the need for a fishing boat powerful enough for tournaments yet comfortable enough for family outings.
That first 16-footer and a long line of larger premium offshore, tournament and bay models that followed were designed to meet the demands of hardcore fishermen while remaining affordable and easy to maintain.
Huge floor plans provide uncluttered workstations when the bite is on. Most offshore models are equipped with two enormous live wells and what may be the largest fully insulated fish boxes available on the market.
The newly designed Cape Horns boast a dry ride and soft entry, while reverse chines direct any spray down and away from the hull. More benefits? Increased speed and fuel economy. The Florida-based company remains family-owned and operated.
Cape Horn 39T
This offshore powerhouse, the second largest in the 13-model Cape Horn fleet including four Tournament models, was built for one thing: to fish and, more to the point, do it under tournament conditions.
Well-proportioned with an 11-foot, 3-inch beam, the 39T delivers a superb, dry ride whether you’re running a hard 100 miles or just to the local inlet. Its 560-gallon fuel capacity brings the far-off canyons into range and swiftly, with top speeds approaching 70 mph.
A hardtop with large electronic’s boxes overhead is standard, as are outriggers with 18-foot telescoping poles and spreader lights. Three deluxe seats serve the helm, and aft fold-away seating is also standard. A nine-foot insulated fish box offers a 1,600-quart capacity forward while another box aft offers 200 quarts. A pair of pressurized livewells combine for a total of 116 gallons. The 39T boasts a stunning 49 rod holders in all, forward and rear coaming bolsters, and a 48- by 18.5-inch dash for electronics.
A walk-in console offers 6 feet, 2 inches of headroom, and is equipped with a Sani-Pottie and holding tank; owners can opt for a VacuFlush system. The boat comes with both raw- and fresh-water washdowns. Underwater and under-gunwale lights are among options, as is a second station.
The 39T’s 10-year hull warranty is augmented by a lifetime transom warranty. Construction is wood-free.
A quad-axle trailer with disc brakes is standard.
Editor’s Tip
Everything about the Cape Horn 39T is big—from the amount of on-deck fishing space to its massive cold storage capacity to its top-end speed. This vessel is capable of 70 mph so you’ll be one of the first crews to reach the fishing grounds. –Charlie Levine
