Evinrude has announced 11 locations throughout the United States and Canada where anglers and boaters can test ride its E-TEC G2 outboard engines — from August through early November — at fresh- and saltwater venues.

E-TEC G2s range in size from 150 to 300 hp. Evinrude says these two-stroke outboards deliver up to 30 percent more torque, up to 15 percent better fuel efficiency, and up to 75 percent fewer total regulated emissions compared with leading four-stroke outboards. Introduced in 2014, the new-generation outboards also feature a distinctive, customizable cowling that allows consumers to perfectly match their engines to their boat.

At the Tampa and Fort Lauderdale boat shows, Evinrude’s iDock joystick system will also be available for testing. Advanced aircraft gyroscope sensor technology makes iDock more intuitive to pilot by automatically compensating for wind and current.

“We have broken new ground with the Evinrude E-TEC G2 engines,” says Olivier Pierini, Evinrude director of global marketing and strategic planning. “We can show you power curves and flow charts that prove our claims, but there is nothing like getting on a boat and throwing the throttle down. Our customers love the way that torque gets you up on plane right away, and the fuel efficiency is easy to see right there on the gauges.”
