Boston Whaler Gives Away a “Boatload of Backpacks”

150 backpacks filled with school supplies were donated to three elementary schools

Edgewater, Fla. (September 10, 2012) – To celebrate the beginning of the new school year, Boston Whaler carried out its second annual “Boatload of Backpacks” project, donating 150 backpacks filled with school supplies to three local elementary schools in Edgewater, Florida.

Boston Whaler matched employee contributions one-to-one, resulting in a complete school-supply list for 150 area students. The “Boatload of Backpacks” was delivered by a 150 Super Sport to Edgewater Elementary, Indian River Elementary and Burns Science and Technology Charter School.

“Boston Whaler prides itself in being a part of our local community,” says Tim Schiek, President of Boston Whaler. “We are thrilled to be able to help these young students prepare for a successful future.”

Boston Whaler delivered 50 backpacks to each school. The backpacks will then be distributed by each school to a select number of students that may need additional support throughout the school year.
