Florida’s fishery managers have invited saltwater-fishing license holders and exempt residents 65 and older to join the online Florida Saltwater Fishing Panel. Register to join the panel and participate in one web survey each month to receive discount coupons from West Marine.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says the surveys take about 15 minutes to complete and will focus on an angler’s last saltwater fishing trip in Florida during the previous month. Surveys might also include questions about fishing regulations, licensing, conservation and management. Anglers must register by Aug. 20 to take the first survey in September; the monthly process will continue for a year. Anglers who miss the first survey may still register at any time.

The FWC says it will use the data to assess fish hatcheries, describe angler behavior and estimate the economic impact of saltwater fishing in the state as well as fishing effort and catch rates, Participants will be able to see survey results.
