New Jigs At this Year’s International Tackle Show

This year’s crop of new jigs at the world’ largest tackle trade show prove that these fish-catching hunks of metal can vary greatly in shape, style and color.

Sure, one might characterize a jig as essentially a hunk of lead or a slab of metal. But a run through this gallery of various new jigs on display at this year’s ICAST international tackle trade show reveals a different story, with many innovative designs and appealing color patterns. Prices are rounded to the nearest dollar.

13 Fishing Octopi Jig

  • The Octopi is by any measure an innovative lead-head, with a the head shaped to resemble the abdomen of an octopus and a heavy rubber skirt imitating tentacles. Unlike traditional lead-head jigs built around a single hook, the Octopi utilizes two strong assist hooks. The head is designed so the jig sits upright at rest. The Octopi won the Best Saltwater Hard Lure at this year’s ICAST. Five sizes (2, 4, 6 9 and 12 ounces).

Ocean Born Flying Bouncer and Flying Deflector Jigs

  • Patrick Sebile, who designed these bucktail jigs, added side wings and belly ribs. The wings add lift to let the jig glide when dropped on a pause, and to help deflect the lure from snags. The ribs create additional turbulence. A metal sleeve atop the bucktail makes the lure more durable.
