Advancing the concept of integrated boat-control systems, Garmin has launched OneHelm, which turns a vessel’s electronics multifunction display into a command center. OneHelm was designed so third-party companies, such as lighting and vessel-monitoring providers, could marry their software with Garmin systems. OneHelm now integrates with Böning, specialists in monitoring and control; CZone, a digital-switching provider; Lumishore, which makes underwater LED lights; OctoPlex, an AC and DC load controller; Seakeeper, maker of gyro stabilizers; and Shadow-Caster, an LED lighting manufacturer. OneHelm is part of a free software update, available for GPSMap 8400/8600 MFDs.
