Species: Mutton Snapper

Christina jigged up this mutton snapper near Islamorada, Florida Keys. For bigger black grouper and mutton snapper, try a tip that works well in Abacos, Bahamas. Fish a bright-colored, tandem-hooked, 6- to 8-ounce feather jig with lots of Mylar.Hunter Ledbetter

Waiting for the Bite

Brandie watches her spinning rod and those omnious clouds near Bradenton, Florida. Sport Fishing magazine covered 20 offshore spinning reels that can handle most fish species you're likely to hook, sans the occasional world-record bluefin or monster mako shark.Hunter Ledbetter

Chrissy landed this big amberjack fishing out of Tampa, Florida. According to the IGFA, greater and lesser amberjacks can be separated by counting the total gill rakers; 23-26 are found in lesser amberjacks and 11-19 in the greater.Hunter Ledbetter

Species: Mutton Snapper

Zoe caught this big mutton snapper on the flats behind Key West. Muttons often hang in deeper waters, but will venture on to the flats at certain times of the year. Key West anglers in general have access to exceptional numbers of saltwater species in different environment, even including oddball catches such as this goblin shark.Hunter Ledbetter

Species: Yellowtail Snapper

Aubrie's first time yellowtail snapper fishing near Marathon, Florida, was a success, landing this kissable specimen. The South Atlantic Fishery Management Council believes that yellowtail snapper populations in the Keys are in great shape, neither overfished (too few fish in the population) nor undergoing overfishing (fish being removed too quickly).Hunter Ledbetter
