A leader in offshore and, increasingly, inshore fishing boats for nearly 20 years, Yellowfin Yachts bears the undeniable imprint of its founder and president, Wylie Nagler.

You see it vividly in his pledge of personal responsibility for the standout quality of every boat the company ships — from the smallest, a 17-foot skiff, to its largest, a 42-foot center console. Each is a high-performance fishing platform, a custom build of the highest-grade materials and products, all skillfully assembled.

Yellowfins are built in Florida but proudly proclaim their Outer Banks origins, with high bows and wide flare. Stepped hulls pop them onto plane in a heartbeat, and they leave the pack behind on open water. Speed, in fact, was the top feature favored by survey respondents, followed closely by brand reputation and construction.

A miniscule 0.17 points (on a scale to 50), separated the four categories of Fishability, Performance, Design/Construction and Value — and the aggregate of those scores was in the top handful in our survey.

Digging into the individual attributes in our survey, it’s plain to see that those who know Yellowfins know them as solid, fast, spacious and flexible — all feeding into a sterling brand reputation.

Thinking center console, and thinking big too? Best you give Yellowfin’s 42 some serious thought.

This massive outboard boat welcomes the family aboard for a safe, comfortable weekend outing, but it just as readily supports a hard-charging team’s run at the tournament prize.

Either crew will appreciate the 42’s smooth, dry ride and top-flight performance, courtesy of its stepped hull. They’ll admire, too, its superb fit and finish, particularly its super-sleek gelcoating and dual berth and head with shower below deck.

Biggest of the Yellowfins, the 42 feeds triple or quad outboards from a 571-gallon tank capacity that brings the far-off within range. Reviewers report a thrifty 500-mile range at 4,200 rpm, ahead of triple 350s.

Select hardtop, dual tower or marlin tower. Pick hull and trim colors. Add forward seating for the family, or bolsters to steady crew in the fight (they’ll appreciate toe-holding gutters in the deck too.)

Massive pumps deliver sea-chest water to two baitwells and an acrylic-topped livewell. Tackle storage — all storage, in fact — is generous, and rod holders abound in nearly every direction, 14 wrapping around the console-friend sun pad alone!

A trio of insulated in-deck fish boxes, like everything else about the 42, are big and well-appointed — and ready for fish!
