During the spring season as the water temperature begins to rise into the low 50's, stripers become the game fish of choice. It is not unusual for these fish to reach over 30lbs and we target these fish by live lining eels, chumming clams, trolling or casting lures along the sod banks. As the water temperature rises into the 60's and 70's, we focus our fishing on the artificial reef formations off the New Jersey coast. New Jersey has a wonderful artificial reef program where army tanks, ships, subway cars, tires filled with concrete and concrete balls are sunk to the ocean floor in designated areas to form artificial reefs. These reefs form a habitat for hundreds of types of marine organisms which make for amazing fishing. When fishing these reefs, blackfish, summer flounder, and sea bass are the targeted species.
Captain Dave offers private inshore charters ranging from 4 to 8 hours aboard the "Compass Rose". These trips are all based on Ocean fishing out to the local reefs and ocean lumps for sea bass, fluke, bluefish, black-fish, striped bass, and croakers. The trips are based on one to five anglers. Add $50 for the sixth passenger. There will be NO Fuel Surcharge added to the price of the trip. From past experiences, the best choice is the 6 hour "Tide Trip". This provides the angler the opportunity to fish the entire tide and allows for ample time to fish different locations. All tackle, bait, and ice are included in this price. I recommend the client bring what they want to eat and drink, sunglasses, a hat, and a windproof/waterproof jacket for adequate comfort. Coolers for your catch, food and drinks are provided on board so please do not bring your own. Private charters also include fish cleaning and packaging to take home.
"Half day" - 4 hour charter -- $395
"Tide Trip" - 6 hour charter -- $575
"Full Day Fishing Safari" - 8 hour charter -- $700
