The trout bite here in Flagler County is really going off right now. This is the first time in a few years that I have seen consistently big trout in the 5 to 6 lb range. They will eagerly hit a fly. I have chartered a few times in the DR. I highly suggest u do some research. It is a beautiful place, Punta Cana, but remember your dealing with a 3rd world country. Here is a pic of my largest trout of 2012. It was caught on Christmas eve morning. It measured 24" and weighed 6 1/2 pounds. She was a porker. Got it on my white fly that I have posted on site before. Had a total of 12 trout on that white fly that morning. The smallest was 16".[ATTACH= ...

I've never done any permit fishing (don't have them here in central Fl.) but I would guess and say a Merkin crab fly. Google You Tube and type in Merkin. If your going to the Keys for permit any fly shop down there will point you in the right direction.

I fished the Tamoka Basin in Volusia County the last 3 out of 4 days. I landed 25 snook, 2 flounder, 3 trout and 2 reds. The majority of the fish were on fly. The largest snook, 26", was on a chartreuse 17MR Mirrolure as were the 2 flounder. The largest flounder was 19". Had to go to a ...
