Secondhand Gulp!
Cut the leftovers into small pieces with scissors and use the pieces to sweeten your bait-catching hooks.
Nov 27, 2007

Instead of tossing all of those leftover chunks of Berkley Gulp! baits, save them to use on sabiki rigs. Cut the leftovers into small pieces with scissors and use the pieces to sweeten your bait-catching hooks. It's great for pinfish and most other small prey, and the Gulp! pieces stay on the small hooks longer than shrimp.

Remember to take the Gulp! pieces off your fishing and bait hooks if you plan to leave the rigs exposed to air for any length of time. Air hardens Gulp!s so much they can't be used. Store the sabikis or Gulp! pieces in a baggie with Gulp! juice so they remain moist (the hooks will rust if stored too long). You can even freeze Gulp! pieces, if necessary.
