This is a Hawaii-tested-and-proven lure you can make yourself in a few seconds with no special skill or materials. In addition to a hook, leader, skirt and three egg sinkers, you'll need the metal tube from a toilet-paper holder. Pick egg sinkers that fit easily inside the tube. When the diameter is right, the sinkers should match length and width. After attaching the hook, insert an egg sinker inside the lure skirt and slide it down the leader. Then thread the leader through the remaining two weights and slide the tube down the leader until it fits over the skirted weight. The lead weight should fit snugly against the front end of the tube. When a fish hits, the tube's smooth, hard surface slides through its jaws so the hook can penetrate. Every toilet-paper axle has two parts, so you get two lures from one holder. Discard the internal spring. Jim Rizzuto Kamuela, Hawaii
