Airtight, Just Right
I laid my jigs in a bag and used the sealer to pack them tightly...
Feb 8, 2008

Packing for a weeklong trip to Central America, I found I couldn't fit all my tackle into the allotted space. I tried using clear-plastic tackle boxes; they work fine, but I had too many different jigs and didn't want all that banging around in transit to knock off the elaborate finish. I also noticed that it took two containers to hold the relatively small number of lures and hooks I was bringing.

That's when I got the vacuum-sealing idea. I laid my jigs in a bag and used the sealer to pack them tightly. The jig finishes are now safe and secure; no moisture will intrude; I don't pack dead air space; and the bags seal in any attractant I previously sprayed on the jigs. I am also bringing one small nylon pouch to remove a selection of jigs for each fishing day. I always like to leave extra tackle behind for the boat crew, so resealing the vacuum bags won't be an issue.
