I came up with this knot a few weeks ago when looking for a uni-knot variation. The "Little 8" is a simple, unique, very low-profile knot used to attach a hook or hardware to mono. Use this knot with 8-pound test or heavier mono - it will produce unsatisfactory results with braid. It may be the simplest, smallest lock-down knot you've ever used. - Dave Werner
This knot starts off exactly link a Uni with the making of a uni-loop. Insert the end of the line or leader thru the eye and bring back the tag end at least four inches.
Pinch the tag end and standing line together just behind the eye. Then form the uni-loop in the tag end and hold just behind the eye.
Wrap the tag end around the loop one full turn as shown. Then tuck the tag end behind and out through the original uni-loop to complete the knot.
Moisten, hold the hook and pull first on tag end. Then pull on standing line to tighten.
