Use a Bead

Avoid damaging your rod's tip by placing a bead before the swivel.

When using a Sabiki rig to catch bait, at some point you will invariably watch a bait coming up on the bottom hook as you reel the tiny Sabiki swivel through the tip of your $100 spinning rod, knocking out or breaking the guide's ceramic insert.
To avoid this heartbreak, rig an orange bead just above the swivel. The bead helps you keep an eye on the swivel coming up and acts as a stop to prevent the swivel from entering the rod tip. As an added bonus, these beads are sold as fish attractors and may even improve the bait-catching ability of the rig.
