Tony Peqa Spectra Knot

Here's a great knot for tying Spectra to mono (or fluorocarbon) that I derived from the Roddy Hayes knot.

Here's a great knot for tying Spectra to mono (or fluorocarbon) that I derived from the Roddy Hayes knot. I've tested it in Panama and Mexico, and it has proven to retain 100-percent knot strength while easily passing through rod guides and level-winders. This knot also holds well when joining lines of unequal diameters. (1) Secure mono to Spectra with an overhand knot; (2) tighten the overhand, leaving an 8- to 10-inch tag of Spectra; (3) wrap Spectra 10 times up around mono; (4) wrap Spectra 10 times back down between previous wraps and put tag end through loop formed before first wrap; (5) pull tag end of Spectra and mono leader evenly to snug knot. Tag ends can be trimmed close to knot for ease in casting through rod guides.
