Although small lures are very effective on big fish, trying to lure fish up from the depths with the peewee smoke trails generated by small heads can be difficult at times. My solution: Simply add a cap commonly found on 2-liter bottles of soda in front of the lure to create a larger wake. First, drill a hole large enough to accommodate your leader through the bottle cap. Next, thread the cap onto the leader in front of the lure and rig normally. Your lure should now create more of a ruckus to attract the big boys.
