Shelf Life

A bolt 10 inches long will hold three 1/4-pound spools on top of each other nicely.

I found a convenient way to store and use my fishing line. I drilled a hole in the top outer part of a shelf in the garage and inserted a 1/2-inch-diameter bolt so the threads hang downward. I then slipped the bolt through the center of my 1/4-pound spools and fastened a 1/2-inch nut on the bottom. A bolt 10 inches long will hold three 1/4-pound spools on top of each other nicely. The spools stay out of the way and can be used to fill my reels straight from the bolt. When a spool is  empty, I simply replace it by removing the nut on the   bottom of the bolt.
