Reel Power

It runs the electric reels all day, and I can easily store it out of the way while running to the fishing grounds.

I got tired of carrying a spare battery to run my electric bottomfishing reels. It was heavy, expensive and always in the way. I discovered that my jump starter proved lighter, quicker to charge, less expensive and served several jobs on the boat. It runs the electric reels all day, and I can easily store it out of the way while running to the fishing grounds.

I have used the PowerNow PS90A jump starter, which is sold at Ace Hardware for $48. It only weighs 10 pounds compared with a marine battery that weighs more than 50 pounds and costs $100. Most jump starters also come with a plug to recharge off the boat's battery. Mine is also corrosion- and water-resistant.
