During my travels around the world, I learned to improve my catches on spinning plugs and jigs at night by adding to the leader, just ahead of the plug or jig, a 1 1/2- to 3-inch green Cyalume or similar light stick.
I thread a piece of transparent plastic tubing the same length as the light stick onto the leader before attaching the lure. When ready to fish, activate the light stick and slide it into the tube. It should fit snugly and hold the light in place on the leader.
The light attracts fish to the scentless lures at night and increases the number of strikes.
