Pulling Your Chain

Bungee chords are the asnswer to safety chains that drag on the street.

Owning two trucks presented a problem when it came to trailering my boat: Each truck's hitch required safety chains of different lengths. Chains that were long enough for one truck dragged when I hitched my trailer to the other.
I discovered that bungee cords keep my safety chains tight enough to prevent dragging, yet stretch to provide extra length for cornering or attaching to hitches with loops farther forward. Tie a 2-foot length of bungee cord to the trailer (where the safety chain is attached) and thread the cord through the chain. An overhand knot in the end of the bungee cord holds it in place.
