Plastic Baits Have Nine Lives

Get your money's worth out of those old plastic lures.

Old plastic worms never die ... they just become hook guards. Many plastic tails are lost to fish or structure, but other survivors become destined for the garbage can for a variety of reasons. Rather than toss them, put them aside for use as hook guards. When you want to cover the hooks on a large lure, slip the whole body down over the hook's barbs or just tear off a chunk for Sabiki rigs or other small hooks. Just don't forget to pull the tails off before you start casting!
