Fred Shikora of Fairbanks, Alaska, taught me this knot that he learned while fishing in Cabo. I've used it as a leader knot and to attach just about anything to my main line, and it hasn't failed once this season. This knot also works well on super-braids and Dacron if you double the line before tying.
Start by passing the line through the eye of your swivel or hook. Pass the tag end under your index finger and run the line to the rod over the top of the same finger. Go back over the finger and main line with the tag end and wrap it back toward the swivel seven times. Pass the tag through the loop close to the hook, and then bring it back through the loop near your finger. Slip your finger out and tighten both ends. The knot will slide down and create wraps that line up for a good-looking knot.
