When drifting for sharks, consider using roller-troller clips to widen your spread and avoid tangles. Attach the roller-troller clip to a short length of sturdy line or Dacron and tie a heavy snap to the other end. When you're ready to drift, attach the snap end to the downwind side of the bow rail and clip the line from the fishing rod in the release clip. I use release clips for two of my three drift lines. Depending on your boat's angle of drift, the clips can also help keep the forward baits in the chum slick.
