Dignity Saver

I use soft-head lures as teasers.

I use soft-head lures as teasers because I believe their natural texture helps keep billfish interested and aggressive until we can select appropriate tackle and drop back a bait. A disadvantage to soft lures is that you can pull the leader right through the lure's head if you're not using a large backing - especially if a 500-pound marlin has clamped down on the teaser and you're trying to wrestle it away from him.
On the Sundowner, we rig teasers by crimping a stainless-steel washer to the leader behind the lure head. That way no fish will rob us of our lure and our dignity.
