Clip Control

For kites with multiple release clips

When launching a kite with multiple release clips, the second and third clips often ride up the line due to the friction caused when sending out that first bait. To avoid this problem, I attach a 3-inch loop of 100- to 200-pound mono to the end of the kite rod. I fasten the loop into the second clip as I prep and launch the first line. When the next swivel comes out the rod tip, I unsnap the second clip and fasten the mono into the third clip, and so on.
