This is a great method we use to mark and attract fish over wrecks, well heads or similar structure. It works especially well on red snapper.
Take a 2-foot section of 4-inch PVC sewer pipe and drill it full of 1/2-inch holes. Use PVC cement to glue a cap on one end and threaded cap adapter on the other. Drill holes in the threaded cap and tie your marker line to it. Tie the other end of the line to your buoy of choice. (We use another section of 2-foot section of sewer pipe painted orange and capped at both ends.) Put a pound or so of lead into the chum missile and thread on the cap.
To make chum "warheads" for the missile, freeze ground chum in 1-foot sections of 4-inch sewer pipe with removable caps at each end. To load the missile, simply remove the caps from the frozen chum tube, push out the chum and push it into the missile. You can keep as many reloads as needed in the cooler with dry ice.
