Avoid the Stink

A little preparation can save your car from smelling like a mudhole.

When wading and fishing backwater flats and estuaries, it's not uncommon for anglers to find themselves up to their calves in muddy bottom. Not only does the ooze slow you down and tire you out, it makes a terrible mess when you get back to your car. Not many things can touch the stink generated by thick, black saltwater mud, so it's best to keep it out of your vehicle if at all possible.
I've found that bringing along a gallon jug of tap water from home provides enough of a rinse to get me home clean. Just give your wade boots a good dousing after you take them off and you'll have a relatively stink-free drive home.
