Another Use for Koozies

Foam drink coolers can insulate reels from shocks encountered while traveling.

A good way to protect your delicate spinning or bait-casting reels in a suitcase or travel bag is to stick them in foam rubber can insulators (sometimes called "koozies"). Most light baitcasters fit easily, but for larger baitcasters or spinning reels it may be necessary to split the side of the koozie and secure it with a rubber band. Removing the handles on spinning reels also allows them to fit inside the koozie more easily.
