Intellian s6HD is a digital marine satellite antenna system specially designed for the DIRECTV services for all types of vessels (anchored or in transit) to automatically identify, track and capture satellite signals from the Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB: the international standard for digital TV transmissions) compatible satellites.

Intellian s6HD is a dual-band 2-axis marine satellite antenna system which is capable of receiving 3 DIRECTV satellite signals simultaneously. Receiving signals from one DIRECTV 101°W Ku-band satellite and two DIRECTV 99°W and DIRECTV 103°W Ka-band satellites at the same time, you can simultaneously watch all DIRECTV channels no matter which satellite your target program is coming from. This also enables the channel guide data to remain constantly up to date.

Using a simple connection to the antenna, the Intellian s6HD with a Single Wiring Multi-switch (SWM) enables 16 receivers to view all DIRECTV channels with the possibility to upgrade to 32 SWM Receivers or DVRs. The s6HD is also compatible with general Ku-band receivers such as DISH Network, Bell TV and DIRECTV local channel programming services. Read more »

As Capt. Peter B. Wright said to me this morning, the Lauderdale show is misnamed… it should be the Fort Lauderdale Ship Show. I have never seen more mega-yachts in any single place at one time! Those of us more interested in fishing vessels will appreciate several new hulls introduced just today. Read More

Mercury Marine took the wrapper off a totally new 150 four-stroke on the first day of the  2012 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, and unlike the Verado line, this outboard relies on high displacement for its oomph. It has a relatively large 3.0-liter displacement block, yet it is also the lightest and smallest 150 four-stroke on the market – 20 pounds lighter than the next lightest. It is also the only 150 with an oil cooler. Its 60-amp alternator is the most powerful for the growing number of electronics on saltwater fishing boats today. Read More

Walking the halls of the Broward County Convention Center at the 52nd Annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, three new flats skiffs caught my eye. No surprise as to the first — Hell’s Bay Boatworks ( has been a market leader in skinny-water skiffs for years, but its latest entry may well be the company’s most versatile boat, according to marketing director Todd Fuller. Most of the edit staff came to the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show fixated on boats and power, or at least some genre thereof. Makes sense since it is the boat show, after all. But there’s always more to the show than boats, so I figured I’d share a few views of some of the “other stuff.” Amazing Glass Work Read More

As I mentioned in my blog a week ago, I have really been looking forward to the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. Not only does it showcase some amazing new boats and engines but it offers a glimpse at electronics products either due to the market in a matter of weeks or by the first of next year. Waiting for these product intros is like anticipating a new Apple release. Cutting-edge technology just explodes on all fronts. Read More

I’m really looking forward to the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) next week (Oct. 27-31) because it offers a glimpse of spring just as we head into winter. New boats, new outboards, new electronics and new tackle — what could be more fun? Fort Lauderdale also offers warm sunshine — at a time that many of us are feeling our first freezes — and a true party atmosphere. But mostly, it’s about the boats. Read More
