Shimano used Spiral X and Hi-Power X blank-construction processes to build the new Game Type J rods for inshore and offshore jigging. The series includes 10 rods — seven spinning models and three conventional — for fishing vertical-drop jigs from 6.3 to 10.5 ounces. The one-piece rods come with Shimano’s CI4+ reel seats. Conventional models measure 6 feet in length and are rated for 30-, 40- or 50-pound braid. Spinning rods range in length from 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet 5 inches. The 5-foot-8-inch rod handles 65-pound-test braid; the rest are rated for 30- or 40-pound. Game Type J rods cost $399.99.
