Tournaments galore in the Wildwoods this October

Three fishing tournaments will be held throughout the month of October.

rab a pole and start reelin' in the fun! Whether you're an expert or novice fisherman, the Wildwoods welcome you to take part in the three fishing tournaments held throughout the month of October. The 55th Annual Pennsauken Surf Fishing Club Tournament will take place on Saturday, October 3; the Great Fall Classic Surf Fishing Tournament will take place Saturday, October 10 and Sunday, October 11; and the Anglesea Surf Anglers Surf Fishing Tournament will take place on Saturday, October 17!

Kicking off a month of fishing tournaments in the Wildwoods is the 55th Annual Pennsauken Surf Fishing Club Tournament on Saturday, October 3. The tournament will take place along the award-winning beaches in Wildwood, with registration taking place 6 a.m -7 a.m. at the Anglesea Firehouse, located at 2nd and New Jersey Avenues. in North Wildwood. The tournament is scheduled to take place from 7:30 a.m.-2 p.m. along the beaches of Wildwood, with an awards ceremony scheduled for 3 p.m at the Anglesea Firehouse. Gold, silver and bronze medallions will be awarded to the top three teams and individuals, based on "Most Fish Points." Gold medallions will also be given in the juveniles and women categories for "Largest Fish" and "Most Fish." Teams and individuals are welcome to register. The entrance fee for individuals is $10, and the entrance fee for teams of up to six is $50.

On Saturday, October 10 and Sunday, October 11, join fellow fishermen for the Great Fall Classic Surf Fishing Tournament. The tournament is scheduled to take place from 7 a.m.-2 p.m., with registration starting at 5:30 a.m. at the Nesbit Information Center, located at Rambler Road and Ocean Avenue in Wildwood Crest. The Saturday team and individual tournament will take place from 7 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Points for all fish caught will be tallied, and plaques will be given to the team and individual with the most points. Plaque presentations are at 2 p.m. at the Nesbit Information Center. Also, great prizes, including a custom-made fishing rod, will be given away during a 50/50 raffle and Chinese auction at the awards ceremony. The entrance fee for the Saturday team/individual tournament is $50 for teams and $10 for individuals.

Following the awards ceremony, a second individual's tournament will begin at 5 p.m. on Saturday and will continue overnight, until noon Sunday, October 11. A plaque will be awarded to the person with the most points; and a mini-raffle will take place following the tournament, at the Nesbit Information Center. The entrance fee for the individual tournament is $10.

And finally, on Saturday, October 17, pack your tackle box and head back to the Wildwoods for the 22nd Annual Anglesea Surf Anglers Surf Fishing Tournament. Registration for the tournament is from 6-7 a.m. at the Anglesea Firehouse, located at 2nd and New Jersey Avenues in North Wildwood. The fishing tournament will take place from 7 a.m.-1 p.m. along the beaches of Wildwood, and the tournament's awards ceremony will begin, tentatively, at 2 p.m. at the Anglesea Firehouse. Plaques will be given to 1st place winners in the team, individual, women, and juniors categories, based on "Most Fish" points. Runners-up will receive fishing gear and other great prizes. Additionally, a special trophy for the Gus Mason/Charlie Cantz Memorial Classic will be presented to the person with the largest fish. The awards ceremony will also feature a raffle with spectacular prizes, including a 42" flat screen TV.
