World Cat introduces 32-foot center console
By World Cat
Thu, Oct 29, 2009

Tarboro, NC (October 2009) - At the 2010 Miami Boat Show, power catamaran manufacturer World Cat will debut the 320CC Center Console, which has the beam, stability, and ride of the 330TE combined with the styling and family seating of the 290CC. The new 320CC is built with the most modern boat-building techniques to increase strength while reducing weight: the hull is resin-infused, using the latest equipment and advanced laminates, then chemically bonded to the fiberglass superstructure and finally to the deck. The result is a stronger, faster, and lighter fishing machine, and we expect huge improvements in fuel efficiency and top-end speed.

Fishermen using the 320CC will appreciate the 40% more cockpit depth than the 330TE, the 1300+ quarts of fishbox or dry storage space, the 12-gunnel mounted rod holders, and the 45-gallon livewell. And when not fishing, enjoy the seating capacity upfront for 6-adult, perfect for an evening cruise, as well as the optional swim-platform for diving at the reef with the family. Built on the same enhanced semi-displacement twin-hull design as our popular 320EC, the 320CC's promises a smooth dry ride that lets you enjoy both hardcore fishing and family time like never before.

The model will be available in the spring of 2010. To learn more, visit www.worldcat.com/320cc

Advanced Hull and Stringer Laminate and Production Method
To create the best offshore fishing boat in the world, World Cat designers knew they had to think outside the box. First, they tested the 32 hull (from the popular 320EC) with different weights in the notoriously rough Atlantic waters off of North Carolina. Then they tested the boat with heavier and lighter loads than a normal World Cat 32 center console. It was determined that the best rough water ride on a World Cat 32 hull was achieved at 1,800 pounds under our normal weight.

"Achieving this optimal weight while maintaining the boat's strength required us to utilize innovative new production methods," said Andrew Brown, president of World Cat. "Working with our core and fiberglass vendors we developed a laminate that was an astounding 20 times more rigid than a normal World Cat, yet is 1,200 pounds lighter," added Brian Cooke, World Cat's Product Manager.

The 320CC is the first resin-infused production catamaran. Resin-infusing is a low-emission process where the glass and coring come pre-cut for the hull. The pieces and set in the hull like a complex jigsaw puzzle. A vacuum bag is then placed over the hull and sealed. A vacuum is applied and the resin is pulled into the mold at multiple locations so that all the glass is impregnated with resin to accomplish ideal resin-to-glass ratios. This process is simple, clean, and it eliminates air voids in the process.

To remove additional weight, World Cat then developed a fiberglass stringer system that would chemically bond into the hull. Engineers worked with World Cat vendors to develop a lightweight stringer system that was 600 pounds lighter and provided all the strength of a normal World Cat. We then chemically bond the hull to the fiberglass stringers and to the deck. These new techniques increase strength while reducing weight, resulting in a stronger, lighter, faster, and more fuel-efficient vessel.

Expansive Cockpit
The layout of the 320CC has 30% more cockpit depth than World Cat's popular 330TE. The expansive fishing cockpit features 105-square feet of space and contains dedicated fuel filter cabinets, as well as tackle and bulk storage compartments for fishing supplies. The Euro transom enables passengers to easily board the vessel or haul large fish onto the deck, and features a heavy-duty acrylic door at the walkthrough for increased durability. The transom also features built-in bait prep and tool storage, and a freshwater transom shower. A transom-mounted chilled bait tray on the starboard side is optional. Another optional feature is a high-pressure misting system, with 10 jets integrated into the hardtop and the forward seating.

Improved Helm Area
Center consoles typically lack protection from the elements, but the new 320CC features a full wraparound windshield. The optional canvas package allows the protection of up to four individuals from the weather or te creation of a pilothouse for two. The 320CC lockable electronics box is capable of accommodating two 15" electronics screens. The double helm seat includes individual flip-up bolsters and arm rests. Steering, engine and electrical controls are strategically placed to allow for comfortable operation from both a standing and seated position.

Fishing Amenities
A standard 45-gallon livewell with acrylic lid supplies a cockpit loaded with 12 rod holders and 4 rocket launchers. Rod and gaff storage is provided in the cockpit and bow to ensure fishermen are always prepared to do battle. Whether they're searching for tonight's dinner or a trophy catch, sportsmen have ample room for storage on the 320CC, with the boat's twin 300-quart floor fish boxes or twin 225-quart bow. Add to those the 105- and 185-quart forward coolers and the 300-gallon fuel capacity and it's easy to see this boat is ready for long runs and tight lines.

Twin-hull Design for the Smoothest Ride
The 320CC builds on the same patented VectorfloŽ Air Cushion System that gives all World Cat boats their trademark smooth ride. The enhanced twin-hull design of the 32-foot series provides an amazingly stable fishing platform, as the twin hulls slice through choppy water and keep the deck parallel to the sea.

Versatile Design
Beyond its fishing pedigree, World Cat made a concerted effort to include families and friends into their design. Center consoles are not known as cruising-oriented, but the 320CC makes this transition easily. The bow contains large storage areas for days on the water and can be converted between sun platform and seating for up to 6 adults. With additional built-in console seating for two and the optional bow table, you can eat a meal, enjoy cocktails with friends, or relax and enjoy the sunset.

The Perfect Marriage Of Fishing And Family
Designed to bridge the gap between hardcore fishing vessel and customer comfort, the 320CC will satisfy both the angler and their family. . "The 320CC represents the perfect marriage of a center console fishing boat with a family friendly dual console," said Brown.

Special features of the 320CC include a full wraparound windshield with side vents, walkthrough Euro-transom, over 1300 quarts of insulated fishbox storage, 14 cup holders forward, 12 gunnel-mounted rod holders, bow seating for 6 adults, and a marine head. Other new features onboard the 320CC include an automatic cockpit floor wash-down system that with a flick of a switch sprays the deck with raw water to clean off debris.

"Our customers raved about the size and smooth ride of the enhanced twin-hull design of our 320EC, but fishermen continued to ask about the center console," said Brown. "Therefore we were able to get a great amount of feedback to use when designing this model, and I think the final product represents our commitment to providing our customers with the boat they dream about."

The 320CC gives you a smooth dry ride, the ability to enjoy hardcore fishing or family time, and we expect huge improvements in the top-end speed and cruising fuel efficiency.
