As we recently bulletined, the Venezuelan International Super Slam billfish tournament in La Guaira, Venezuela is scheduled for the last weekend of September.  Activities will begin on Thursday September 24th with anglers and observers returning home on Monday September 28th.  In our last email we informed that some changes would be made in order to create more interest and participation.  The following are some of the changes we have decided to make:
 
First of all we will be returning to a TWO days of fishing format (Saturday & Sunday), same as we did our first year back in 2004.  We believe that with the current global economic situation a two day event over a weekend will reduce the time away from work that is required to participate as well the cost of team registration.  Visit www.intlbillfishtourns.com for online registration.

The second change we will be making will be the addition of an OUTBOARD DIVISION which will work as a tournament within a tournament with its own set of rules and awards.  We hope that this measure will increase participation especially among those local anglers/outboard boat owners who have not been able to compete in our tournaments in past years.

Last but not least is the creation of the VENEZUELAN INTERNATIONAL BILLFISH CHAMPIONSHIP which will consist of two legs on consecutive weekends starting with the Super Slam.  The second leg will take place in Puerto La Cruz, October 2nd thru the 5th during the brand new Lecheria International Billfish Tournament.  It will NOT be necessary to compete in both events but our friends in the Anzoategui Fishing Association are enthusiastically working very hard with the support of the Lecheria Mayor's Office to make their leg a top level event.  There are excellent marinas and five star hotels where space will be provided for the event, fuel will be readily available, and rest assured that they will organize some fabulous social functions.  Teams and individual anglers who have the highest combined score competing in the two legs will be crowned "Champions" during the awards banquet at the end of the end of the Puerto La Cruz leg and of course the winners of the leg will also receive awards.  We certainly hope you will decide to compete for the title of Champions participating in both of these great events and get to enjoy another very attractive part of Venezuela.
