Beyond The Breakwater, a website dedicated to coastal and offshore fly-fishing in Southern California, is announcing that our 2009 TYD Tournament is scheduled for August 8, 2009. The event is a fly-fishing only, "Limited Take" tournament focused on Tuna, Yellowtail, and Dorado (the T-Y-D). The event is one day only, and will be based out of Dana Landing Market on Mission Bay.
This a team event, each boat entered is considered a team.
Prizes include: trophies; saltwater fly-fishing tackle from Scientific Anglers, Temple Fork Outfitters, Cam Sigler, and Sea Level Fly Fishing Adventures; sunglasses provided by Oakley and Smith; a Sage Launch outfit provided by SoCal Fly Fishing Outfitters; Rio products provided by Outdoor Specialty Products; gift certificates; boating accessories from West Marine; and a SPOT Satellite Messenger. There will also be a special raffle for a Temple Fork Outfitters Axiom fly rod and TFO 425 Large Arbor reel valued at $575.
The entry fee is $150/team, and includes a barbecue dinner after fishing, tournament Tee-shirt, Beyond The Breakwater hat and a gift bag.
We also have a few special deals for contestants:
- Capt. Scott Leon (Paradigm Shift Charters) is offering a 25% discount to tournament contestants booking a trip with him for the tournament.
- The Dana on Mission Bay, which is located right next to the Dana Landing launch ramp, is providing discounted rooms (two night minimum stay).
- FishDope.com, an integrated fish reporting service website, is offering one week of free service to registered contestants the week prior to the tournament.
To help people get started, we will be holding 4 seminars in June to introduce you to the equipment, techniques, tournament rules and strategies.
