Billy Thomas, from Clermont, Florida, captained the 36' Yellowfin Savanna Lynn to a win at the Wahoo tournament held at Port Lucaya Marina on Grand Bahama Island. They won the tournament with 268.0 points and also won the Heaviest Wahoo on Day One (54.5 pounds) and on Day Three (61.0 pounds).

Second place, with 249 points and only 19 points behind the winning boat, was Marshall Leeds on Svengali, a 41' Albermarle out of Boca Raton, Florida. Marshall also weighed in a very respectable 60.5 pound Wahoo.

Third place, with 196.5 points went to Marlin, a 42' Rybovich owned by Marlin Younker of Lantana, Florida.

The heaviest wahoo in the three day competition weighed 82.0 pounds and was caught on China Girl, a 65' Ryco owned by Dan Swanson of Palm Beach, Florida.

The weather conditions where absolutely perfect during the tournament and the anglers and crews enjoyed sunny skies, variable winds and smooth seas. 22 boats weighed in a total of 80 qualifying wahoo (over 20-pound minimum weight) for a total of 2,819 pounds at an average of 36 pounds for Wahoo.

Excitement is already building up for the second leg of the tournament, to be held at Chub Cay (February 6-9, 2008), as only a half-pound separates the first two boats leading the overall Bahamas Wahoo Championship:  Savanna Lynn at 171.0 pounds and Svengali at 170.5 pounds.
