Tim Mahaffey of Miami, guided by Capt. Duane Baker brought in four releases on day 2, four releases and one 9 pound 6 ounce weight fish on day 3 to win the prestigious 33 rd Islamorada Fall Fly invitational Bonefish Tournament. This is the second win for this team. Mahaffey has also been grand champion of the Islamorada Spring Fly Bonefish Tournament four times, The Golden Fly Tarpon Tournament, The Hawley Tarpon Tournament, The Gold Cup Tarpon Tournament, The Superfly & The Redbone.

Mark Richens of London England guided by Capt. Mark Cockerham were second catching his weight fish on day 1, plus five releases.  The largest bonefish was caught on the last day by Mahaffey & Baker. Extreme high tides made bonefishing on the flats of the Florida Keys very difficult even for these seasoned anglers.

On the water anglers try to judge which bonefish eight pounds and over to release and which to bring to the scales (later released alive) when the extra points of five tournaments weight fish, usually in the 8 – 12 lb. range becomes a factor. The three days of camaraderie were held at the Lorelei Restaurant and docks, the kick-off, weigh-in and awards banquet were held at Islamorada Fishing Club.
