National Seminar Series Continues in March

Head to Jupiter, Florida at the Jupiter Community High School on March 2 to see the next stop of the National Seminar Series.

Want to know exactly what it takes to locate and catch fish in your local waters, trophy fish included? If you’re like most anglers, the answer is a resounding “Yes!” For 26 consecutive years, coastal anglers have relied on the Salt Water Sportsman National Seminar Series for the latest tactics and techniques, as well as the best locations, times, tides and even moon phases to catch their favorite inshore, nearshore and offshore game fish. It’s basically a no-holds-barred seminar revealing the shortcuts to fishing success.

The Heavy Hitters

Exactly where does all this piscatorial knowledge come from? The National Seminar Series prides itself on its faculty, which is comprised of some of the most recognized names in the sport, including Salt Water Sportsman editors and leading regional guides and pros. Leading the National Seminar Series is George Poveromo, host of the World of Saltwater Fishing television series on the NBC Sports Network, and an editor-at-large for Salt Water Sportsman. Poveromo is joined by fellow editors and pros including Gary Caputi, Ric Burnley, Tom Richardson, Dr. Mitchell Roffer, “Crazy” Alberto Knie, Dave Workman Jr., Harry Vernon III, Jeffrey Liederman, and captains Bouncer Smith, Jimmy Price and Rick Mola. A minimum of nine faculty members participate at each location.

The Presentation

“We use a team-teaching concept where four experts take the stage to cover each session,” says George Poveromo. “The beauty of this is that not only is it entertaining, but the audience is privy to several different ways to catch a particular species of fish. Compared with a single person on stage, where you hear just that expert’s opinion, our National Seminar Series has four authorities tackling each topic. And the amount of information revealed up on that stage borders on the unbelievable at times.”

Each National Seminar Series stop is geared to the fishing within that region, and is supported by images, diagrams, video bites and on-stage demonstrations. These tailored visuals reinforce the critical points discussed by our nationally and regionally acclaimed teaching teams. Furthermore, image-magnification technology allows the audience to view detailed fishing charts, step-by-step rigging instructions, lures, baits, knots and much more on a pair of 10-by-10-foot screens, which flank the instructors on stage.

Tour Dates

National courses will focus on: how weather affects fishing; how to track migrating fish; using cutting-edge electronics; successful trolling tactics; how to fine-tune your tackle; where to catch fish year-round in your area; and more.

Nothing Ordinary About It

Make no mistake: This is not your ordinary, run-of-the-mill fishing clinic. As the nation’s premier educational seminar on saltwater fishing tactics, the National Seminar Series is held in some of the most prestigious and luxurious auditoriums in the country. The how-to and where-to of locating and catching inshore, nearshore and offshore game fish is at the heart of the presentation at each venue.

For the Kids

New this year will be a special Kids’ Seminar from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., presented by Sperry Top-Sider. In addition to the seminar, the kids will participate in a meet-and-greet with George Poveromo, have chances to win special door prizes, enjoy a free lunch courtesy of Sperry Top-Sider, and have their names entered in a grand-prize drawing to win a Florida fishing trip with George Poveromo. Note: One child, 15 years and younger, per paying adult, will be admitted for the full day at no charge.

Times and Fees

The seminars are held on Saturday beginning at 9:00 a.m. and conclude by 4:00 p.m. There is a one-hour break at noon for the adults, and the conducting of the Kids’ Seminar during this hour. Long considered the best bargain in sport fishing, a Seminar Series ticket is only $55.00.

The Goodies

The ticket price covers six hours of instruction from the best pros in the business, a course textbook, a one-year subscription or extension to Salt Water Sportsman magazine, one Roffer’s Ocean Fishing Forecast Analysis, a 16-ounce bottle of OrPine Wash & Wax, one spool of Sufix fishing line, one bottle of Startron fuel treatment, a $20 discount card for any purchase of $150.00 or more from Capt. Harry’s Fishing Supply, and chances to win valuable door prizes. The Grand Prize at each location is a Bahamas fishing trip for two to the prestigious Bimini Sands Resort & Marina.
