Mississippi man breaks state record for pompano on fly
By Dmr

An Ocean Spring angler recently broke a Mississippi saltwater sportfishing record for fly-fishing. The Commission on Marine Resources certified the records during its Dec. 16 meeting.

" Rick Laumen of Ocean Springs broke the state fly-fishing record for Florida pompano on Oct. 3, 2008, with a weight of 3 pounds, 12.8 ounces, surpassing the previous record of 2 pounds, 1.1 ounces, set in 2006.

The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources is dedicated to enhancing, protecting and conserving marine interests of the state by managing all marine life, public trust wetlands, adjacent uplands and waterfront areas to provide for the optimal commercial, recreational, educational and economic uses of these resources consistent with environmental concerns and social changes.
