Miami Beach to host first 'carbon-neutral' fishing tournament

Miami Beach to host first 'carbon-neutral' fishing tournament

Driven by concern about the impact of climate change, Florida anglers are hosting a first-of-its-kind event January 10-13 at Miami Beach Marina. The tournament will combine world-class fishing with climate consciousness as a portion of proceeds are used to offset the event's carbon emissions. Environmental Defense and National Wildlife Federation are the tournament's lead sponsors.

Top contenders in the World Billfish Series will compete for an unprecedented 88% cash payout of entry fees and added divisions. The Sailfish Tournament's ability to meet these goals is due to generous support from a broad array of sponsors that believe sportfishers and boat owners can make a difference in the fight against climate change by working to reduce global warming pollution. In partnership with AgCert, the tournament will purchase climate mitigation credits to offset the event's carbon footprint. More information can be found at www.TheSailfishTournament.com.
